Inspired by nearly reaching my number-of-songs-on-my-next-album goal, I produced all night long and came out with "Nice_First Night Mix." It's the most minimal in nature and, indeed, has a more minimal, tribal house feeling to it.

Though simple in its over all voicings - consisting entirely of percussion, bass, effects, and lyrics - its underlying structure is of a more bebop/modern classical music variety in that, amongst other things, it primarily utilizes diatonic harmonies which are octatonically transposed throughout the entirety of this song. In fact, elements introduced in later variations of this piece, such as melodic and harmonic embellishments, are just that - embellishments...all of which are governed by the octatonic structure of this original mix.

So, though relatively simple on the surface, this mix has the main ingredients of all the other mixes in its most pure state. Potent stuff!

In addition, the effects applied to a number of voices in this mix are themselves a voice in this song, as they too evolve over time... . Complex to the nth degree? Perhaps not. But, then, that was never the goal. I simply LOVE octatonic scales and use them all the time...whether in this more...frozen...from, or in my free form piano improvisations.
