This single features 3 mixes of "Mal Funk Shun" - a song which started as a break from another project. Indeed, I finished the bulk of the original mix the same night. The other two mixes, "Overheat" and "Relapse" were completed soon thereafter.
Coincidental (?) personal life events aside, the title is of course a pun on the word "Malfunction" which itself is more referring to the slight divergence from strictly simple logic in the bass line. Thus, the imaginary robot slips into something more like intuition, than pure logic - something that might very well seem like a..."Malfunction."
